[IERW #2] The Martion

The location of movie is very important because it determines the fate of the protagonist. The movie, MARTION is about one man who is called Watt trying to survive alone on the Mars. Actually, the Mars has a close relationship with the Earth than the other planet as to be called brother. The fate of Watt would have been changed if the location of the movie was another planet not the Mars. Likewise, the Mars is very important element of the movie, because it is the main reason why Watt was left on Mars alone as well as he can return to Earth safely.
Sandstorms caused by the unique climate of the Mars that has the huge temperature difference and dry weather make Watt left alone on the Mars. NASA team 3 encounterd the notorious dust storm while explore the Mars. The speed of sandstorms is hard for human to bear because it is about 100m per 1 sec. Due to this dust storms, Watt were left alone on the Mars, apart from members and the story is begun. If without the unique climate on the Mars such as hazardous sand storms, Watt might not be remained alone on the Mars.
The Watt was able to come back alive, because Mars and the Earth have similar condition. Mars is the most close to the Earth so that the temperature is also similar with the Earth. This weather condition of Mars is an important element that Watts can be rescued from the Earth within 587 days and survive on the Mars as a result. If the background of the planet that he stayed was very different with the earth, he could not be rescued. Because the other plant which is farther than the Earth would need longer time to rescue him, he might be died due to lack of the food. Besides, Watts could live in the Mars because of an appropriate temperature which is 50 degrees at the lowest that is similar with the Antarctica of the Earth and 30 degrees at the highest.
Martion could not be set in any other plant. Because of the sandstorms that exist only on the Mars, Watt had been left alone. In addition, the other plants such as the Venus, Jupiter were so far from the Earth that it would take longer time to rescue him. As well as the temperature of the Venus, Jupiter is about 800 degrees, -100 degrees that the human can not live in there, Watt would not able to come back alive on the Earth. If you guys are left on the Mars alone, can you survive in there???

The Jeonju as the best example of geotourism

Jeonju is one of the most popular attractions for not only Koreans but also foreigners. Actually, the number of tourists in Jeonju for a year is roughly 10 million which is 1/5 of the population of South Korea. Furthermore, according to the Lonly Planet which is the famous travel guide book, Jeonju is ranked third place in the ‘Best Asian Travel Destination’. The reason why many tourists started to visit Jeonju is the geotourlism conducted by Jeonju municipal government Through Jeonju discover two positive effects as a result of geotourlism.

The first positive effect of geotourlism policy is that Jeonju was able to protect their own traditional culture such as heritage or food of the village. In the past, Under the 1910-1945 Japanese colonial rule, Japanese merchants flocked to the city to engage in rice transactions and settled inside the fortress. In response, residents of Jeonju built the about 700 Korea traditional houses called Hanok at the opposite of the Japanese complex, forming their own hanok village. Jeonju municipal government selected Hanok Village as a protection zone in 1977 to preserve the over devlopement and heritage of this town. Therefore, anyone can not damage the Hanok as well as establish a large building or apartment in this Village. Also, people tried to develop and specialize their soul food of Jeonju after enacting the policy prohibiting all of the foreign food sales. In the result, Jeonju became one of the most famous cities especially in traditional Korean food such as BIBIMBOB, TTEOKGALBI. Through geotourlism policy, Jeonju could protect their heritage, traditional food and also prevent over-development.

A second positive effect of geotourlism policy is that Jeonju has provided jobs for local people through
the geotourlism policy. Because it is prohibited that the establishment and managing of accommodation such as motels and hotels within the Jeonju Hanok Village, tourists have to stay in Hanok rather than the famous resort or modern hotel. This policy becames an opportunity offering the local people the jobs running the traditional accommodation. In addition, Jeonju municipal government have made Youth Street called Chungnyunmall in order to provide the jobs for the young. It supported them to operate the unique store designed by themselves. For example, one young man developed special beverage which is filled in a bulb-shaped bottle, this cafe became famous through word of mouth. Consequently, this geotourlism policy attracted many tourists and the young people was able to earn a lot of money. In other words, the Youth Street called Chungnyunmall have boosted local economy through a variety of aritistic cafes and unique souvenir shops in Jeonju.

Jeonju must maintain the geotourlism policy if they want to develop Jeonju as more popular tourist attraction. Otherwise, there will be built a lot of accommodation such as hotels and resorts in Jeonju. Finally, they would lose the traditional culture of Jeonju and also the local shops such as the unique souvenier shops and cafes in Youth Street called Chungnyunmall might be disappeared under the influence of franchise shop of large companies. It will cause the local people lose their job or prevent the possibility of making much money. To protect heritage, food and their jobs, Jeonju municipal government must continue to maintain geotourlism policy and oversee whether it is conducted properly or not. It would be helpful that Jeonju strenghten this policy to keep their policy and attract more tourists.

The other attractions wherever want to conserve their traditional culture such as heritage, food or prevent to over-development they should carry out the geotourism policy like Jeonju. In addition, they would offer the local people a lot of jobs and chance to make money by prohibiting manage franchise shop of large companies. As the result, the geotourism policy enables to the attractions be distinguished from the antoher place and attract more tourists.
